The world’s longest high-speed rail line opened in China from Beijing to Guangzhou. The train travels at 186 miles per hour. Journey time for the 2,285 Km (1,428-miles) is shortened from 20- to 8 hours. Among 35 the stops the provincial capitals Shijiazhuang, Wuhan and Changsha are included. The government plans a grid of high-speed railways with four east-west lines and four north-south lines by 2020 as an essential part in China’s transportation system.
