This small boutique hostel is included in the top 10 hotels in Rio de Janeiro by The Guardian. It opened in December 2012. Done out with Brazilian designer furniture, it includes Latoog hanging chairs – you won’t want to get out of these, Artwork from the local art school adorns the walls. High-ceilinged dorms sleep four to nine guests and there are private doubles, the largest on the third floor, and on the ground floor a small double is adapted for wheelchair access. For a hostel Contemporâneo attracts older, thirty-something travellers. Breakfast is served in the patio area, where a large metal shipping container has been adapted into a trendy bar.
