A number of countries including Japan, China,Russia and Germany are working on high speed train travel. A specific example is a prototype floating bullet train under development, and recently unveiled in Japan. It’s capable of reaching speeds of up to 500 Km/h. The plan is to be fully operational by 2027 on the busiest routes between Tokyo and Nagoya, and expanded to Osaka by 2045. This prototype, designed by JR Tokai, is 28 meters long, and capable of carrying over 900 people. This is different from other high speed trains because it uses an electromagnetic cushion for levitation and propulsion instead of wheels.
