PeterGreenberg.com (October 29, 2013 ) reported almost half of overseas travelers say they would suggest avoiding a trip to the United States due to airport wait times. One in seven travelers say they missed a connecting flight and have had to cancel hotel reservations, car rentals and other planned activities. The U.S. Travel Association. reports $416 million goes unspent in the U.S. economy for every 55 minutes travelers are left waiting in lines. New resources are vital to help Customs and Border Patrol officers to process passengers more efficiently while meeting security needs.
The five airports with the longest waiting period at peak time are:
1. Miami (MIA): 4.68 Hours
2. New York (JFK): 4.48 Hours
3. Chicago O’Hare (ORD): 3.76 Hours
4. Los Angeles (LAX): 3.30 Hours
5. Washington Dulles (IAD)
