There are a large number of churches and cathedrals, like the Voskresenskiy Cathedral (Resurrection Cathedral) in Voronezh. It’s difficult to decide which ones to visit. However, this one has a very attractive interior with lots of frescoes and frequent services e.g. a Harvest Festival. As with many modern churches, this one was built near the wooden original of the 17th century which burned down in 1748. By 1768 it was replaced by a stone church. The church was closed after the Russian revolution and used as a warehouse. After suffering serious damage during World War II, it lapsed into a dangerous state of disrepair until renovations started after 1987. The cathedral was reopened in 1994.
